



Cherry blossom festival was inaugurated at the Loimwe hill resort in Keng Tung, the eastern Shan State on 6th January. Shan State Chief Minister Dr. KyawTun, the Commander of Triangle Region Command and an official of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism formally opened the ceremony.
At the event, the Shan State Chief Minister said that Shan State is a hilly region and endowed with water falls, limestone caves and beautiful natural scenery and world-famous lake. It can be said that Cherry blossoms, a landmark of Shan State, attracts as a destination of Shan State.
The Chief Minister added that Shan State government is also focusing on tourism development in the State and also implementing the fruitful results of tourism to be able to enjoy by the people. The tourism village is being implemented in 10 villages that have possibility of tourism development.
On behalf of the Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism, the Deputy Director General of the Ministry gave a speech. At the ceremony, the State Chief Minister, the Commander of Triangle Region Command, the state ministers and officials enjoyed the entertainments of Shan, Lahu, “Wa” and Akha ethnic cultural troupes and presented honoraria to them.
The Chief Minister and the Commander also presented T-shirts printing Cherry blossom festival commemorative logo to the attendees and viewed around the ethnic traditional commemorative gifts and food stalls.
