State Administration Council Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Maha Thray Sithu Min Aung Hlaing addresses the event to present medals and certificates for military gallantry at Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw on 4 January 2022.
Speaking on the occasion, the Senior General said safeguarding the nation for ensuring non-disintegration of the independence and sovereignty is the historic duty of all citizens. On the occasion of Independence Day, good citizens who served the State with courage and sacrifice of lives and limbs are honoured as they are deserved to be honoured.
Such works are done for examples that new generation youths and new generation Tatmadaw members would emulate. The independence and sovereignty of a country are of great importance. Everybody knows many numbers of the people who sacrificed their lives in the independence struggle comprise not only patriotic ethnic people but members of the Sangha.
Their names have been recorded in Myanmar’s history till today as a saying goes: “Martyrs never die” despite passing many years. The modern Myanmar Tatmadaw which emerged together with the independence struggle turned out a large number of heroes in line with the concept that “Courageous soldiers never go to hell”.
Names of patriotic heroes would never disappear and would flourish in the motherland of Myanmar forever etc. The Senior General presented gallantry medal to one Major, one Captain, two Sergeants and two Lance Corporals, Excellent Medal in Science to six Lieutenant-Colonels and two Majors, Gallantry Certificate of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services to one Lieutenant-Colonel and one Major and Honorary Certificate of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services to one Colonel and one Captain.
The Senior General and party posed for documentary photos with Tatmadaw members and inheritors who accepted the gallantry medals. The medal and title winners were served with tea with the entertainment of Myawady Entertainment Troupe. The Senior General then cordially greeted the medal and title winners.
