COVID-19 Update: 79 New Cases Reported at 8 p.m. on January 2

The Ministry of Health reported 79 new COVID-19 cases at 8 p.m. on Sunday after testing 6,907 lab specimens within 24 hours. 2 COVID-19 positive patients have died while 209 patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals. Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Myanmar have reached 531,025 with 19,274 deaths and 508,696 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the hospitals.

COVID-19 vaccine is being injected to those of priority groups in regions and states for prevention and control of the disease. Up to 1st of January, 2022, a total of over 20.81 million people have been vaccinated. Of them, over 15.57 million people have been vaccinated two times and over 5.24 million people once. Therefore, a total of 36.38 million doses of COVID-19 jabs have been vaccinated.

The Ministry of Health has given instructions for office/department staff and everyone’s active cooperation in following the COVID-19 preventive measures including reminders of staying safe and healthy during the pandemic.
