Inspection tour: Union Minister inspected factories in Yangon Region

The Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than visited the companies leased out by the Ministry of Industry in Thanlyin Township, Yangon Region in the morning on December 23 and inspected the clothes sewing lines.

The union minister said that the tour is intended to help solve the difficulties if the factories leaser companies may face with, by increasing of investment, more job opportunities will be created for the local people, the companies should undertake the corporate social responsibilities for the local people, the National Textile Policy is under drafting to be released for the development of textile industry, as the textile sector is a labour intensive industry, the efforts are needed to develop the industry, when the garment industry comes to develop, all stakeholders along the Supply Chain will be opened job opportunity and the socio-economic life will improve and the welfare of the workers should be provided with some profit margins of factories leaser companies.

Those factories are operating with over 3,000 workers, producing women’s clothes, warm jackets and pants and being exported to Korea, Japan and Europe. Next, the union minister met with the chairperson and members of Myanmar Garment Entrepreneurs’ Association and coordinated requirements reported by the association.

In the afternoon, the union minister also inspected no (24) factory of heavy industy in Dagon Myothit (South), gave necessary instructions and inspected production process in the factory.
