Coordination meeting: Coordination meeting on COVID-19 vaccination held

The Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win together with the director-generals and responsible officials held a coordination meeting on COVID-19 vaccination in 2022 at 9:30 a.m. on December 23 via Zoom Meeting and the deputy minister Dr. Aye Tun and officials attended the meeting through the Virtual system.

In his opening remark at the meeting, the union minister said that a total of 17.4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines including 13.4 million doses of Covidshield vaccines purchased from India, 2 million doses of Covaxin donated by Sasakawa Foundation, one million doses of Covaxin donated by India and one million doses of Sinovac donated by China will be accepted during this December.

In January, 2022, one million doses of Sputnik Light vaccines purchased from Russia will arrive. As of February, one million doses of SinoPharm vaccines per month will be produced in the country.

The systematic storage of vaccines will be needed to give vaccination for the people during 2022. Next, the deputy director-general Dr. Kyaw Kan Kaung clarified the purposes and schedules of vaccination program, detailed plans of target groups and target group to be given bolstered dose and type of vaccines and the union minister tended the requirements.

Afterward, the union minister and party inspected Cancer ward (5 storey building) in Yangon General Hospital and instructed the responsible officials for the cancer patients to be undertaken the treatment conveniently and reducing waiting time for radiation therapy.

Then, the union minister inspected the construction site of new 7-storey hospital building and instructed to reduce waste of materials, meet the specified quality standard and complete within timeframe.

Afterward, the union minister met with the responsible officials of YGH, professors, heads of departments, specialists and nurses at the Training Center and gove necessary instructions and guidelines.
