High-Level Forum: Ocean Sustainability High-Level Forum held in Dubai

Myanmar is actively cooperating in the Blue Ocean Economy, UN SDGs on the sustainability of ocean and the ASEAN’s work processes.

In doing so, the cooperation with inter-governments and inter-government institutions as well as joining hands with the development partnership organizations and private entrepreneurs is being facilitated. The presence of Myanmar here is a notable instance, said Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo at the Ocean Sustainability High-Level Forum of ASEAN countries held at Business Connect Centre, Dubai Expo 2020, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 10th December, 2021.The union minister added that Myanmar is rice with biodiversity and posses diverse climates due to its geographical features.

There are snow-capped mountain ranges in the northern part of the country. It has about 3000 kilometers long coastal line from Bangladesh to the border of Thailand. Myeik archipelago situated at the southern most part of Myanmar is comprised of over 800 islets and its coral reefs are still untouched.

In addition, the habitats for the seasonal migratory birds including Lampi marine national park established aiming at the sustainability of natural resources, islands protected endangered sea turtles and other marine natural resources conservation zones are being set up. The participants in this meeting are those who are successfully leading the Blue Ocean Economy and Ocean Sustainability efforts. Myanmar will join hands with all and share the experiences gained from this forum.

And Myanmar will try to host such forum based the good pratices implementing by each country in the forum. The High Level Forum is held by co-organizing of James Michel Foundation, the Government of UAE and ASEAN during Dubai Expo-2020 and the ministers for environment and fisheries of ASEAN countries and minister of UAE, ASEAN secretary-general, chair of James Michel Foundation, responsible officials from Non-Government private organizations and business entrepreneurs were invited, it’s reported.
