Healthcare Sector: Union Minister Makes Inspection In Yangon

Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khine Win inspected the General Specialty Hospital (500-bed) in Yangon on Sunday afternoon. During the inspection, the Union Minister met with the medical superintendent, medical specialists, doctors and nurses and urged them to make efforts to provide healthcare services to the people.

Although some hospitals are able to provide treatment, some township hospitals provide surgery, childbirth and treatment by only one doctor. He said arrangements will be made to send specialists to India under the national programme. He urged them to make efforts to resume liver and kidney transplants as soon as possible.

On the same day, the Union Minister visited the North Okkalapa General Hospital and inspected the intensive care unit designed to treat critically ill patients with COVID-19, wards, emergency and outpatient departments and the radiology department. He also met with the medical superintendent, specialists, doctors and nurses. The doctors, nurses and technicians wishing to return to work are welcomed, he said.
