





Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win addressed an event marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) 2021 on Friday in Nay Pyi Taw.
There, the Vice Senior General said that a national committee and a working committee were formed for effectively implementing the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Law 2015 and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules 2017 in Myanmar. Myanmar signed the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on 7 December 2011 and is striving for fulfilling the requirements of the persons with disabilities based on justice, advantages and ability to keep abreast of other persons in the society.
The State Administration Council provided cash assistance and humanitarian aid to the persons with disabilities under the UN 2030 programme. Depending on the experience of the persons with disabilities in the COVID-19 crisis, the project of the sustainable development goals including the persons with disabilities for 2030 will be implemented and placed under assessment.
The Vice Senior General urged all to join hands with the organizations implementing the issues of the persons with disabilities for shaping the better future of the world. Also, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Thet Thet Khine spoke words of honour. In this event, winners in the competitions to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities were announced.
There, the Vice Senior General also viewed the books and documentary photos related to persons with disabilities. This year's theme is “Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world”.
