The Hungarian President and his Egyptian counterpart met in Budapest on Tuesday for bilateral talks on topics including the fight against terrorism and water management.

Bilateral trade between the two countries has increased by 21 percent so far in 2021, driven by a 44 percent increase in Hungarian exports, according to reports. Egypt's president talked about the importance of the fight against terrorism and the need to create stability in countries that have become "fertile ground for terrorism in recent years".

Meanwhile, in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, Hungary will donate 250,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Egypt, with the country a popular tourist destination for Hungarians. In addition, an agreement on the mutual recognition of COVID-19 certificates is being finalised.
