Authorities in Ecuador have seized more than seven tonnes of cocaine with a street value of some 333 million US dollars. The drugs were hidden in containers of tinned tuna due to be shipped to Spain from the port of Guayaquil. Authorities said it was the largest drugs seizure to date at the port. The cocaine was found on Monday in two containers in the port's pre-shipment area. Specially-trained dogs sniffed out the drugs and alerted the police, who found 5.9 tonnes in one container and 1.3 tonnes in the other.
