Costa Rica's Rincon de la Vieja volcano erupts

After several months of calm, an eruption was reported Monday at the Rincon de la Vieja volcano in Costa Rica.It is estimated to have sent ash and smoke more than two kilometers high above the base of the crater. The chief of the National Emergency Commission Lidier Esquivel has called on residents not to approach the volcano and to avoid nearby areas.The Commission is sending personnel to evaluate the stateofbridges and main river crossings to determine the safety of the area.
