Shortly after President Joe Biden met with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and sought to assure him that he would not tolerate a nuclear Iran, Rivlin was greeted at the U.S. Capitol by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who stressed bipartisan support for Israel's security among U.S. lawmakers.

Rivlin, who is making his final foreign trip of his presidency, arrived in the U.S. just weeks after Naftali Bennett became Israel’s new prime minister, replacing Benjamin Netanyahu. He comes to the U.S. as the Biden administration has intensified efforts to revive Iran’s 2015 accord with world powers to limit Tehran’s ability to develop nuclear weapons. Rivlin is set to leave office on July 7 after a seven-year term.
