Plume of smoke as car catches fire in New York

At least one parked car caught fire in New York's Long Island City neighbourhood on Friday, throwing up a plume of smoke that was visible from other boroughs. In footage posted on social media, emergency crews can be seen dousing the car with water and several explosions can be heard as the fire appears to spread to other cars. The Fire Department did not immediately respond to a request for information about the fire.
