Myanma Thanakha Day: To be Organized in 5 Townships of Magway Region

MyanmaThanakha day will be organized on the full moon of Tabodwe in Ayadaw, Shwebo, Pauk, Myaing and Yayzagyo townships of Magway Region, Myanmar Thanakha Planters, Producers and Exporters Association said.

The designation of Thanakha day is aimed to cherish Myanmar’s traditional cosmetic (Thanakha) and to preserve wearing of Thanakha culture. Thanakha is Myanmar’s traditional cosmetic paste made from ground barks of Thanakha tree. Thanakha plants are grown in central part of Myanmar, abundantly in Magway and Sagaing regions. On the festival day, the light bonfire of Thanakha will be worshipped to the Buddha images and pagodas, charity feats will be served and educative pamphlets on Thanakha will be distributed, the Association said.
