



COVID-19 vaccination program is kicked off across Myanmar on Wednesday.
On 22 January, Myanmar received 1.5 million doses of Covishield vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India (SII).The vaccination programme begins for the health workers and volunteers in the front-line of COVID-19 control measures.
Medical staffs who are performing duties at the 500-bed People’s Hospital in Sittway have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and the vaccines will be dosed to 420 medical staffs for 2 days.
On the first day, 200 medical staffs will be vaccinated and 220 will be dosed for the second day. Rakhine State Chief Minister U NyiPu and cabinet members also looked into vaccination tasks for the health staffs.
Likewise, the hospital-based vaccination started in Mrauk U, Rakhine State on the same day and the District People’s hospital is set as an assembly place for vaccinating. COVID-19 vaccines have been dosed to 120 medical professors and health staffs including the District Medical Superintendent for the first time.
