


As part of contribution for COVID-19 fight, the staffs and retired persons from Myanma Radio and Television under the Ministry of Information and well-wishers donate cash and other necessary things to COVID-19 medical center (Phaunggyi) on Thursday.
The COVID-19 medical center (Phaunggyi) is the largest COVID center in Yangon and it has been established since the start of COVID-19 infections in Myanmar.
Medical Superintendent, COVID-19 Medical Center (Phaunggyi), Dr. KoKoNaing said “In the first wave, we gave treatments to double negative cases and positive cases in the second wave. There are 10 patient wards in Phaunggyi COVID Center and 4 ICUs. It can house 1,220 patients. We have already treatments to over 3000 patients. There are about 100 hospitalized patients and discharged persons each daily.”
The Medical Superintendent of COVID-19 medical center (Phaunggyi) added that they prepare systematically the patient wards with infection control and for the safety of health staffs and volunteers at the center.
Medical Superintendent, COVID-19 Medical Center (Phaunggyi), Dr. KoKoNaing said “Paunggyi COVID center houses positive patients and most of the patients here are moderate severe and severe cases. We are giving treatment to the patients with full strength of medical staffs in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Sports, Tatmadaw medical team and private hospitals. With the contribution of well-wishers, we can give treatments to the patients as much as possible although there are the needs.”
One of the well-wishers expressed her feeling on the donation and how they got the idea to make donation to the center.
Staff Officer, MITV, Aye Aye Kyin said “This month, the government provided two-month salaries as interest-free loans to all civil servants. So, we discussed with our friends to make donation and got the idea to donate for COVID-19. With contribution of the staffs, heads of our department, retired persons and our acquaintances, we received over 3.2 million kyats within 10 days. Out of them, we donated 1.1 million kyats to the National Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 and the rest are donated to the largest COVID center in Myanmar.”
The donation amounting to the COVID-19 medical center (Phaunggyi) are 1 million kyats cash for purchasing medicines and medical equipment, bed sheets and pillow cases worth over 500,000 kyats and garbage bags used in hospitals worth over 600,000 kyats, totaling more than 2.1 million kyats.
