Brazil's Bolsonaro backs Trump reelection, criticises Argentina's turn to the left

Brazil right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro said on Thursday that he hopes Republican U.S. President Donald Trump will be re-elected in November. Bolsonaro has praised Trump often, calling him a political role model and drawing parallels between their conservative agendas. The Brazilian leader has been critical of left-leaning leaders in Latin America and further afield.

On Thursday, he said that Argentina chose for a "lie" in an election that pitted former conservative president Mauricio Macri against leftist victor President Alberto Fernandez. Also in his address, Bolsonaro hit out at critics that the country's Amazon rainforest is under threat.
