Over 100 baby turtles hatch on Colombian beach, make first crawl to surf

Over a hundred baby turtles were born on the shores of Colombia's National Park, where the hatchlings made a rush towards the surf shortly after birth.

According to conservationists, the National Park is an ideal breeding ground for the loggerhead turtle. Located by the shore amid lush surroundings, it provides sufficient protection for the species that is often threatened by animal trafficking in the black market. According to officials, 105 turtles were born from the latest batches of eggs. Once these babies reach adulthood, they can grow up to 1.5 meters long and weigh up to 440 pounds.
