


Myanmar grabbed four gold, four silver and five bronze medals at the 14th IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championships that was held in Pattaya of Thailand from 20th to 25th August.
More than 3,000 athletes from 30 countries including American, Russia, Australia and Japan participated in the Championships. 40 athletes from Myanmar participated in different categories of races over the five-day competition.
Vice Chairman, Myanmar Rowing & Canoeing Federation, Kyaw Kyaw Hlaing said “We first aimed to compete in 18 races. Due to lack of timing, we competed in 15 events. We got medals in 13 events. We're so proud to participate in this competition and also our team achieved the highest standard in the competition. Although our team can't compete in all categories of the events, we got prizes in each category of races that we competed.”
The federation also said the trainings were given systematically to the athletes for this competition and the athletes showed their great performance at the competition.
Vice Chairman, Myanmar Rowing & Canoeing Federation, Kyaw Kyaw Hlaing said “We gave trainings every day for the athletes. Not like other countries, we gave camp-training. We believe this is the great results for us because we tried very hard with big aims to achieve prizes in this competition. We all are proud of that moment.”
Athletes who have participated in the competition also expressed their feelings on their achievements.
Athlete, Myo Ko Ko said “We prepared a lot for the competition. It has many benefits for us. We got great achievements. Through the experience I got from the event, I will share good deeds for the next generation.”
Athlete, Kyi Lae Lae Wai said “We competed in the event with the instructions given by our trainers. So, we gained success. I am very proud for bringing success for the country. I'm so proud and happy.”
