Forest fire flares up in Turkey's Marmara Island

A large forest fire was burning in Turkey's Marmara Island on Monday destroying at least five houses, private Demiroren news agency reported. Smoldering fire spread quickly due to strong winds and was threatening residential areas, Demiroren said.

Local authorities said residents have been evacuated and firefighters were struggling to douse the flames under difficult conditions such as high temperatures and strong winds.
