Scuffles, fire and water cannon as teachers, students protest in Chile

Violence in the streets of Santiago, Chile on Wednesday as riot police came up against protesters calling for greater education funding. Officers used a water cannon to subdue the crowd after a molotov cocktail started a fire on a police vehicle and protesters threw rocks at officers. A number of arrests were made. 

Protesters accused police of using heavy-handed tactics against them. Wednesday's protest comes after teachers agreed to extend strike action after they rejected measures from the government to end the deadlock on education funding.
