12 basketball teams from China and ASEAN member states including Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Thailand took part in the tournament, held at Maliki Town in Malipo County of Yunnan Province from 13th to 20th July.

The basketball tournament brings great opportunity for the young students from both ASEAN countries and China to honor sportsmanship and friendship, while promoting mutual learning and understanding.

This is my first time competing with ASEAN basketball teams. We have undergone training for about one month. We will continue our training for achieving more wins."

The host Maliki Team won first prize while Thailand grabbed the third place. Myanmar player Sai Aung Aung achieved Most Valuable Player Award in the tournament.

Selected Player, Most Valuable Player Awardee, Sai Aung Aung said "Our team won second prize in 3 on 3 event of the tournament. For the Most Valuable Player Award, I won it in 5 on 5 event. Our team members have undergone training daily, under the instructions of the coaches."

Vice Chairman, Myanmar Basketball Federation, Maung Maung Myint said "I led the Myanmar Basketball Team at the invitation of ASEAN-China Center. The high school student players aged between 16 to 18 are eligible for the tournament. We have selected players from the private and government high schools, and provided camp training for a month.
