Xi Jinping's remarks at 19th Asian Games Hangzhou banquet

Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan on Saturday held a welcome banquet at the Xizi Hotel for the guests attending the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou.

In his speech at the banquet, Xi said China is willing to work together with the Olympic Council of Asia and delegations from various countries and regions to deliver a great sports event that is distinctly Chinese, uniquely Asian and spectacular, making new contributions to the development of Asia and the Olympic Movement.

On unity, Xi said as humanity faces unprecedented global challenges, Asian people should seize the historic opportunity and jointly stand up to the challenges so as to open up broader prospects for the Asian road toward common development, openness and integration.  Xi wished the guests an unforgettable time in Zhejiang and a fond memory of the Games.
