The 14th World Standards Day (2026) ceremony was held in a hybrid format at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Science and Technology on October 14. Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw, Chairman of the National Standards Council and Union Minister for Science and Technology, delivered the opening speech.

In his remarks, the Union Minister stated that the theme for this year’s World Standards Day aims to raise awareness of the importance of standards across various sectors, including industries and businesses.

He noted that Myanmar is placing significant emphasis on standardization, having successfully approved and established 1,131 Myanmar Standards to date. He added that implementing and adhering to these established standards will ensure product quality and open up favorable opportunities to enter international markets.

The ceremony continued with a message from Mr. Sergio Mujica, Secretary-General of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), alongside a video presentation commemorating World Standards Day 2026.

Following this, respective Technical Subcommittees presented discussions on specific sectors, including "Clean Energy and Energy Management System (MMS ISO 50001:2011)," standards related to "Renewable Energy (Photovoltaic) and Energy Efficiency," and "AI Standards and Clean Energy Provision."
