World Ozone Day in Sittwe: Rakhine State CM attended the commemoration event

The World Ozone Day ceremony was held on the morning of September 16 at the Khaing Thazin Hall in Sittwe. Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin attended the event and delivered the opening address.

At the ceremony, the Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin stated that Myanmar has been holding International Ozone Layer Protection Day events annually since 2008, and since 2018, it has continued to be observed as World Ozone Day. He mentioned that this year’s World Ozone Day commemorative events are being held under the theme "From Science to Global Action: Elevating Ozone Layer Protection Worldwide through Science," with ceremonies organized at the national level as well as in regions and states. He emphasized the importance of continuously implementing ozone layer protection processes in collaboration with relevant departments and private organizations to reduce ozone layer depletion on a global scale, thereby ensuring continued protection for humanity and all living beings on Earth through a healthy ozone layer.

Following this, the ceremony featured the screening of a video message from UN Secretary-General Mr. António Guterres, a recorded message from the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and an awareness video commemorating the 2025 World Ozone Day.

After that, Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin took a group photo with members of the State Environmental Management Supervision Committee and warmly greeted and met with attendees of the ceremony.
