













At the invitation of Brazilian President LuizInácio Lula da Silva, Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi, on behalf of Acting President, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Committee Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, attended the Belem Climate Summit held from November 6th to 7th at Belem, Brazil.
On the 2nd day of the summit, Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi joined the Plenary Session. In his speech, the Union Minister said Myanmar is one of the countries which is being affected by climate change. Currently, implementations are prioritized to reduce impacts of the climate change as national duty in line with the Nationally Determined Contributions-NDC.
For acceleration of natural environmental conservation, the Union Minister emphasized on closely cooperation with the international communities through participation in establishment of Tropical Forests Forever Facility- TFFF, as well as the efforts for poverty reduction, people centered climate activities and administration on forest fire.
The Union Minister also participated in the Roundtable Discussion on Climate, Natural, Forest and Oceans. The World Climate Summit is one of the importance summits, organizing under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) since 2010, focusing on reducing climate change based on economic and investment.
The summit aims for drafting works plans to reduce carbon emission in collaboration with government and private sectors.
