The Saitama Children's Zoo in Japan has been raising pudus, which are native to South America. The body length of an adult pudu is usually about 80 centimeters. The female fawn born in July debuted to visitors in late August.
The baby was named Matsuba after the flower called Matsubagiku in Japan, which is full bloom around July, when Matsuba was born. Her weight has increased from 780 grams at birth to more than 3 kilograms in about two months. Seven pudus, including Matsuba, live at the zoo. The visitors said they are thrilled to meet a baby of the world's smallest deer species, known as the pudu.
