

Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin paid a working visit to China from 31st March to 2nd April at the invitation of State Councilor of the People’s Republic of China and Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Wang Yi. During his stay in Huangshan of Anhui Province, the Union Minister met with the Chinese State Councilor and held a bilateral meeting.
They discussed matters on further strengthening of existing relations, promoting cooperation in implementing the bilateral projects, COVID-19 prevention measures, opening of Myanmar Consulate General Office in Chong Qing, ensuring peace and stability in borer areas, smooth flow of border trade for agriculture products, promoting trade and economy, and extended opening of border gates. They also exchanged views on close cooperation in regional and international arena, especially in UN and ASEAN. Concerning the implementation of 5-point consensus of ASEAN, the two ministers made discussions in line with the non-interference policy and ASEAN Charter.
The Union Minister also explained the latest development of situation in Myanmar, and progress on implementing the 9 political, economic and social objectives and 5-point road map of the State Administration Council for all round development of the nation.
It was followed by the signing of agreements on cooperation in economic and technological sectors, and requirements on plant health to export banana to China. According to the agreements, China will provide 650 million yuan for economic and technological cooperation. And also Myanmar will achieve more chances to export banana to China. The Foreign Ministers also made announcement on the establishment of Myanmar Consulate General Office in Chong Qing.
