Migrant workers who will go to work in Thailand need to find and enquire about the jobs according to their skills. They also need to get necessary information from the licensed overseas employment agencies, meaning to work abroad vial legal channels.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour, Nyunt Win said "Migrant workers need to go through official overseas employment agencies – they also need to enquire about the type of professional jobs they want – for instance, garment, construction or manufacturing sector or marine products industry. It’s necessary for the migrant workers to find out whether the jobs suits with them or not."

Passports, Overseas Worker Identification Card (OWIC), employment contract, basic materials and COVID-19 clearance certificate are needed for the migrant workers who will go to work in Thailand.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour, Nyunt Win said "To go work in Thailand, the migrant workers have to pay 300,000 kyats on the Myanmar side and social security fee, visa fee and medical check-up fees in the Thailand side. Only if they have basic skills, they will be ok at the workplace."

Some people go work in Thailand via illegal channels through Myawaddy, Tachileik, Pha Yar Thone Suu, Seik Kyi, Maodaung and Kawthaung. For those who go illegally are at risk of human trafficking and illegal workers will probably lose their labor rights as well as be prosecuted by laws and by-laws.
