Women’s football: U-25 Women’s Football competition kicked off

The opening ceremony of 2022 Regions and States U-25 Women’s Football competition was held at WunnaTheiddi football ground at 3 p.m. on January 7 and the chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan gave an opening remark.

The union minister said that the women’s football competitions were held aiming at uplifting women’s football standard and emergence of new generations of women football players. Women’s football is receiving supports of public like the men’s football.

 Myanmar women football team is achieving successes in the international competitions. Myanmar selection women football team has qualified to compete in the final stage of 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup. The football players need to compete by showcasing the ability and sport spirit and complying with the competition’s rules and disciplines.

The opening ceremony was attended by the members of State Administration Council Pado Mann Nyein Maung, Daw Aye Nu Sein, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, U Maung Har, U Saw Danial, U Shwe Kyein, Union Ministers U Chit Naing, Lt. Gen. Tun Tun Naung, U Maung Maung Ohn, U Khin Maung Yi, U Khin Yi, Dr. Nyunt Pe, Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw, U Min Thein Zan, U Shwe Lay, U Thein Soe, deputy ministers, officials from the ministry of sports and youth affairs, responsible persons from Myanmar Football Federation, special guests, teams’ managers and coaches and players.

After greeting the players of participant teams by the union minister and party, Yangon Region team and Mandalay Region team played as the first match and the Yangon Region team beat with 2-0 against its rival Mandalay Region team.

The 2022 Regions and States U-25 Women’s Football competition will take place from 7th to 21st January, 2022 and a total of 289 players from 13 teams from regions and states will compete, it’s reported.
