US Secretary of State Antony Blinken holds a joint presser with Egyptian Foreign Minister Shoukry and Jordanian Foreign Minister Safadi in Amman, Jordan.
Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State said "We come here today, sharing the same fundamental interest and objective to end this conflict in a way that ensures lasting peace and security in the region." We believe humanitarian pauses can be critical mechanisms to protect civilians, to getting aid in, to getting foreign nationals out while still enabling Israel to achieve its objectives to defeat Hamas."
Jordanian and Egyptian Foreign Minister called for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire. The Amman talks came amid mounting Arab anger over the civilian death toll in the war. Jordan, which in 1994 became only the second Arab country after Egypt to make peace with Israel, recalled its ambassador from Israel on Wednesday for the first time since 2019.
