







1383 Yangon City Maha Thingyan water pandal was opened in front of Yangon City Hall on Wednesday morning.
Firstly, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein extended New Year greetings, saying that the traditional culture festivals and ceremomies have been suspended since March 2020 because of COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, the infection of COVID-19 has declined in March 2022. That’s why, the traditional Thingyan water festival is observed again this year for people to be happy and refreshing mind.
He called on the people to participate in the festival while preserving the prestige and dignity of Myanmar people and the traditional cultural heritage.
The Yangon Region Chief Minister, Yangon Command Commander Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe and Yangon Mayor U Bo Htay formally opened the Yangon City pandal.
At the event, the artistes entertained with music and Yein troupes performed dances. Walking Thingyan featuring Myanmar traditional culture will be held at the Yangon City water pandal with the entertainments of artists, musicians and Yein dance groups.
