Wang Hong and Deng Yu become first Chinese nationals to win Fields Medal

Chinese mathematicians Wang Hong and Deng Yu made history on Thursday, by becoming the first Chinese nationals to win the most prestigious mathematical awards called Fields Medal. Wang Hong was recognized for harmonic analysis and geometric measure theory and she is also only the third woman to win the award in its 90-year history. Deng Yu was honored for work in partial differential equations and mathematical physics.
