Vocational Training: Courses Conducted For Adult Disabled Persons

Social Welfare Department, under the Ministry of Social Welfare Relief and Resettlement opens the trainings for persons with disabilities with the age between 18 to 45 from each region and state.

The training aims for the disabled persons to live their own personal skills without support of any others.

Khin Khin Soe, Principal, Vocational Training School for Adult Disabled said “Currently, there are 44 trainees from all regions and state. According to the vocational courses, the disabled persons have the interviews by concerned trainers and will be conducted courses which are appropriated with their disabilities. Our department supports travel allowance and provides hostels to those who come from other regions and states except from Yangon Region.”

The training courses are conducting at the Vocational Training School for Adult Disabled in Yangon.

The Government also provides 1,500 kyats daily allowance and serves three meals to all trainees every day.     

Kaung Myat, Trainee said “I am taking computer course because I’m interested in. I want to be a software engineer. I’ll try my best to make my own money.”

Sar U, Trainee said “I have 3 siblings and I’m the eldest. I’m 33 years old and I had been making various designs of button and sold at the shops. I have been working that job for about 3 years. I get cloths from the shops. Now, I came to this training school and am taking the sewing course.”

6 kinds of courses such as electronic, haircutting, printing, photography, sewing and computer are conducting at the training school. The electronic training course has been conducted for one year and others 5 kinds of courses are opened for three months from 12th September to 9th December.
