Vivid Sydney drone shows suspended after technical malfunction

Drone shows at the Vivid Sydney festival have been suspended after a technical malfunction caused 89 drones to fall into the water during a performance on Monday night, local media reported Tuesday. The show's operator, SkyMagic, said an unforeseen change in radio frequency affected the drones' positional accuracy, triggering failsafe landing procedures.

Vivid Sydney said that the 9:30 p.m. show on Monday was cancelled, and drone shows scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday would not proceed to allow for a full assessment. Karen Jones, head of Destination NSW, said there was no deliberate interference and no injuries had been reported.
