Viet Nam – China: Railway cooperation commitment

Viet Nam Deputy Prime Minister Bùi Thanh Sơn and China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi, co-chaired the 17th meeting of the Viet Nam – China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation on Tuesday.

Viet Nam called for the establishment of an intergovernmental working group in key sectors, especially railway cooperation. This involves three standard-gauge rail projects linking the two countries, concessional loans, technology transfer, and training.

China pledged to accelerate these railway projects and expand Chinese enterprises’ investment in Viet Nam. Maritime issues were another highlight, with both sides stressing peace and stability in the East Sea.
