Vaccination Efforts: Health Staff and Volunteers honoured in Myeik

Taninthayi Region Government honoured those contributed in COVID-19 vaccination efforts in Myeik District. Chief Minister U Myat Ko and the Regional Ministers attended the honoring ceremony, held on December 31st.

The Chief Minister said with the collective efforts of health staff, military physicians, volunteers and social organizations, the third wave outbreak of the disease have been overcome. Plans have been made for 50% coverage of vaccination in the townships by the end of December.

At present, 74% of residents have completed their first dose and 54% have completed two doses of vaccine. He added that arrangements have also been made for timely providing of vaccines for cent percent coverage.

2.5 million kyats honorary cash assistance were provided for Myeik, KyunSu, Palaw and Taninthayi Townships and military physicians. There are around 500,000 people over 18 years old and over 25,000 students of above 12 years old in Myeik District. Among them, over 330,000 people have completed their first dose and over 270,000 people have completed two doses of vaccines.
