US zoo releases images of giant panda sent from China

Images released by Zoo Atlanta on Wednesday, show one of the zoo's giant pandas settling into its new surroundings after welcoming two pandas from China, male Ping Ping and female Fu Shuang.

The pair arrived at Zoo Atlanta on September 27, 2026, and the zoo says they are already exceeding the team’s expectations and adjusting well to their new environment. In 1972, China gifted a pair of pandas to Washington, following US president Richard Nixon's historic visit to the Communist nation.
