U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken held talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi on Saturday. The two pledged to boost relations, just two weeks after the 50th anniversary of the withdrawal of American combat forces from South Vietnam that marked the end of America’s direct military involvement in the Vietnam War.
Blinken later broke ground on a new 1.2 billion USD U.S. embassy compound in the Vietnamese capital. Blinken said the new embassy represents "another significant step for strengthening a vital partnership" between the two countries.
