US military implements operational pause for Osprey aircraft

The US Air Force said on Monday that a commander has implemented a pause for all Osprey flight training operations.

It will determine if any additional safety measures are necessary during the pause.The Navy did not give a reason for the move or say how long the pause will last.The US Marine Corps has announced that it decided to implement a 96-hour operational pause for non-essential operations of Ospreys.

It said the pause started last Friday.The US military says it has notified the Japanese government about its decision.

The military decided to implement the operational pause for its Ospreys after a weakened metal part inside one of the aircraft broke apart during a flight on November 20.
