The United States marked the solemn 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks on Friday, honoring the nearly 3,000 victims who were killed. Across the country, thousands of people held candlelight vigils, wreath-laying ceremonies, and volunteer projects to reflect on a quarter-century of sweeping geopolitical, societal, and security changes.

Maria Sanchez, Teenager said "I was putting flowers on the names that don't have any flowers, because I feel that everybody deserves to be remembered. I understand some family members may not have been able to make it here, so I wanted to let them know it's okay, I put flowers on their family members and I just think it's something we should all do."

President Donald Trump Trump attended the commemorative ceremony at the Pentagon, where he delivered remarks reflecting on the tragedy.
