UN Security Council condemns attack on UAE nuclear plant

The UN Security Council convened an emergency session in response to a drone strike on the UAE's Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. Members broadly condemned the attack, warning that any hostile act on civilian nuclear infrastructure violates international law and risks catastrophic consequences.

The incident occurred when a drone struck an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Nuclear Power Plant but resulted in zero casualties. UAE officials also condemned the attack as a dangerous escalation, and a threat to regional sovereignty. They also stated that the drones originated from Iraqi territory and retains all legitimate rights to respond.
