Ukrainian and NATO marines continued their ground and sea drills in southern Ukraine on Monday as part of the joint multinational exercises known as "Sea Breeze 2019".'Sea Breeze' drills are designed to "enhance flexibility and interoperability, strengthen combined response capabilities, and demonstrate resolve among allied and partner nation forces to ensure stability in the Black Sea region", the U.S. Navy said in a statement on its website.
Over 3,000 military servicemen from 19 countries together with 33 ships and 26 aircraft are taking part in the drills, which began in the Ukrainian Black Sea port of Odesa on July 1. Drills were focused on parachuting skills, evacuation and performing air strikes at land targets. The Sea Breeze exercises have been taking place annually since 1997. The drills will last until July 12.
