U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was greeted by U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday in Carbis Bay, England where the Group of Seven summit is being hosted. Increasing access to COVID-19 vaccines for poorer countries is at the top of the G-7 agenda. Leaders have committed to sharing at least 1 billion vaccine shots with poorer countries, with half the doses coming from the U.S. and 100 million from the U.K. Guterres welcomed commitments by the U.S. and Britain but says it’s not enough and warned the virus could "spread like wildfire" in developing countries.
