The DEC said 25 million dollars had been donated by the UK government, as the conflict. Established in the 1960 the Disasters Emergency Committee brings together the 15 largest British humanitarian agencies, among them are the British Red Cross, Action Aid, Oxfam and Save the Children.
13 of these members are working in Ukraine. The UN released a flash appeal last week for Ukraine calling for 1.1 billion US dollars only for the first three months, with the UNHCR alone asking for 550 million US dollar to respond to the emergency in the neighbouring countries.
The conflict has forced more than 2.3 million people to flee Ukraine as others try to seek refuge in basements, subway stations and underground shelters. According to the DEC a total of 18 million people are projected to become affected by the conflict.
