Union Election Commission (UEC) on Friday announced the list of areas where elections cannot be held.
The UEC previously announced 102 townships included in Phase-1 of the Multi-Party Democracy General Election to be held starting on 28 December 2025, through Notification No. 56/2025 on 20 August. Likewise, 100 townships included in Phase-2 were announced through Notification No. 141/2025 on 28 October.
The UEC also announced that elections could not be held in 121 constituencies in 56 townships where free and fair elections were not possible, through Notification No. 103/2025 on 14 September. After further scrutiny of wards and village-tracts where conditions do not allow free and fair elections, the UEC stated that among the townships included in Phase-1, 133 wards and 1,306 village-tracts cannot hold elections.
Likewise, in townships included in Phase-2, 28 wards and 1,464 village-tracts cannot hold elections. In total, 161 wards and 2,770 village-tracts are unable to conduct elections. The lists of wards and village-tracts where elections cannot be held, organized by Region and State, will be published in daily newspapers and uploaded on the UEC website at www.uec.gov.mm
