Typhoon Lan leaves trail of destructions in central and western Japan

A trail of destruction has been left by Tropical Storm Lan as it plows through central and western Japan. A road was sheared away by powerful waters unleashed by the storm in Tottori City, western Japan. The Japan Meteorological Agency says Lan is traveling north-northeast over the Sea of Japan at 30 kilometers per hour.

The storm is forecast to move further north, and high waves are expected to continue off eastern and western Japan. Downpours are raising the risk of landslides. Authorities in Shizuoka, Gifu and Tottori prefectures in central and western Japan have issued evacuation orders.
