Typhoon Dujuan struck eastern Japan

Typhoon Dujuan struck eastern Japan's Izu Islands and Kanto region (including Tokyo) on September 21st to 22nd bringing maximum sustained winds of up to 144 km/h and record-breaking torrential rain. The prefectures of Kanagawa and Chiba, both neighboring Tokyo, were hit by a series of mudslides that left six people dead and six others unaccounted for.

Search and rescue operations are continuing. This is the third time in a month that Chiba prefecture has been hit by severe rainfall and flooding.
