Trump says 25% tariffs on Mexico, Canada to start Tuesday

US President Donald Trump has confirmed that his planned 25 percent tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada will take effect on Tuesday.

Trump had postponed the levies on the two neighbors for a month, saying they had promised to implement security measures along the border. The president cited the influx of fentanyl and other drugs into the US from the three countries as justification for the tariffs. Mexico, China and Canada are the top three exporters of goods to the US.
