Traditional Sport Sector: Martial Art ‘Thaing’ Competition In Mon State

Efforts are being made to promote and preserve Myanmar traditional sports.

In Mon State on Wednesday, the martial art ‘Thaing’ competition began with an opening ceremony at the sport stadium in Mawlamyaing.

Mon State Chief Minister U Zaw Lin Tun attended the opening ceremony and called for efforts to turn out national-level sportspersons from Mon State and acceleration of ‘Thaing’ training in the State. The event continued with ‘Thaing’ demonstration followed by the competition.

Men and women under 25 from 10 townships of the State are competing in this 2-day Mon State Government Chief Minister Cup event. For the sports sector development in Mon State, the Government has also been building sports stadiums and grounds.
